The pieces of furniture in A Love Story are transformers that allow one to carry furniture wherever you go, making it easy to make oneself at home anywhere. Since there are two, you can set them up for you and a friend. In the video I transport them all over town (Houston) and transform them into the perfect setting for a romantic rendezvous. Although folding chairs would have been lighter, this is a more customized solution. The work was installed with the sculptures as seating for watching the video in the show "Woods" in 2005. That way if two strangers sit and watch the video, towards the end they may feel kinda like theyre on a date.
